David M. Gray
Senior Director of Strategy, Portfolio, and Digital Business Office
David has 20 years of experience in business and technology strategy, operations, execution, and innovation. He has been an entrepreneur, developed and led high-performing technology strategy teams, and guided the world's largest company through a technology transformation.
David currently leads Novant Health’s digital business office - focusing on technology strategy, portfolio, and experimentation. The team has brought cross-industry insights to the company on topics such as digital business models, business architecture, experimentation-as-a-service, and the changing roles of IT leaders and practitioners.
David also conceived and produced the organization's first business capability model, a single page game board for strategy and execution resiliency, which has been adopted by executive team members for re-aligning business and technology investments and management.
Prior to Novant Health, he acquired 12 years’ experience in business and technology architecture and transformation including co-founding the business architecture practice at Dell, Inc and serving as Chief of Staff to the CTO at Walmart International, establishing strategic positions on emerging technologies and guiding the project-to-product management and portfolio transformation. In seven years as a consultant in Austin, Texas, he managed enterprise products in semiconductor manufacturing, telecom, and e-commerce for companies such as Applied Materials, Level 3, and Amazon partnership living.com. Earlier, he supported the internal communications transformation at Unilever - North America.
David is completing coursework for the A.L.M. degree in extension studies in Management at Harvard University, also completing graduate work on Strategic Management at the Harvard Extension School, and holds a B.F.A. from Texas Tech University.
