Mr. Maritato is an award-winning Business Technology Leader (CIO of the Year, 2017) who effectively revolutionized the automotive industry by delivering a best in class experience simplifying how customers shop and purchase vehicles at Sonic Automotive, an $8.9 Billion Fortune 300 Corporation. As an industry-leading automotive retailer in the US, Sonic operates over 100 new and pre-owned dealerships spread across 14 states and 25 major metropolitan markets. A thought leader who has guided Sonic to the forefront of the industry as a leading innovator, the technology foundation is now more agile to deliver project solutions cleaner and faster. The vision, strategy and long-range development of information system solutions can now integrate new technologies in the automotive vertical seamlessly and support rapid changes in operations and business demands. While leading the Business Technology organization, Sonic realized enhanced workforce productivity, increased employee engagement through advanced digital connection, while enabling greater employee creativity to embrace customer attraction, loyalty, retention.
Mr. Maritato provides over 25 years of documented success in leadership and mentoring across various industry verticals like financial services, insurance and retail at Fortune 100 and 300 organizations. His technical knowledge developing large-scale infrastructures has realized continued performance in operational efficiency across diverse functional organizations. He has served as a member of the executive management team as Vice President of Enterprise Technology Services and successfully guided the technology, operations and strategic initiatives for National Life Group located in Montpelier Vermont. Their revenues approached approximately $1.3 Billion annually providing a comprehensive portfolio of life insurance, asset accumulation and retirement products and services and investment options through a nationwide group of seven affiliate companies.
Mr. Maritato was instrumental in managing the technology and information management in multiple world markets with Merrill Lynch Asset Management. His team’s successes were a direct result of his leadership on a global scale, aligning IT resources and services with the business strategy, including effective asset management supporting global business expansion initiatives organically and through acquisition throughout the Americas, the European Community and Asia/Pacific regions.
Mr. Maritato currently serves on the board of Ballantyne IT Professionals, and advisory board member for HMG Strategy for the Charlotte Summit, CIO Charlotte Leadership Association, advisory board member for Evanta and CXO Tech Council Committee member for Apparo. He also served as a judge for the Blue Diamond Award to help inspire, engage and support students through their educational journey. He was one of 25 to receive the CIO Ones to Watch Award by CIO Magazine and recognized in the Charlotte Business Journal as CIO of the Year in 2017 – Enterprise ORBIE winner.
