Ames B. Flynn
Ames is the former Executive-Vice President of Shared Services at Extended Stay America Hotels, where he worked from 2013 to 2020. In this role, he was tasked with the overall leadership of information technology, marketing and facilities departments supporting company-owned and franchised operations. He also led strategy, planning and operations across shared services departments with a focus on digital technology/marketing, the guest experience, e-Commerce, brand/social/marketing communications, as well as facilities renovations and maintenance.
Prior to his most recent role, Ames was also CIO at Extended Stay America, where he served on the CEO staff. In this role, he was responsible for the overall leadership of the information technology and procurement departments and lead all aspects of IT, including the organization for delivering strategy, planning, architecture operations/support, security, the solutions portfolio and project management, as well as IT financial management. His procurement responsibilities included providing overall leadership for strategic sourcing and vendor management across Extended Stay America.
Prior to joining Extended Stay America Hotels, Mr. Flynn held executive positions including vice president and CIO at Rent A Center, Michael’s Stores, and Lowe’s Home Improvement.
In addition to his affiliation with Apparo, Ames has worked in volunteer settings with Apparo and the Dallas CIO Executive Council as a board member, as well as Charlotte CIO, American Furniture Mfgs. Association, United Way of Rowan County, Salisbury Academy and First Presbyterian Church, Salisbury, N.C.
Ames earned both a B.S. Business (Marketing) and an MBA (Finance/Accounting) from Wake Forest University. He lives in Charlotte with his wife. They have two grown children, one working/living in Charlotte and the other finishing their last year of college. Ames enjoys investing, tennis, golf, fitness, youth mentoring and coaching.
