Stephen Hagood is senior vice president and chief information officer at Ingersoll Rand (NYSE:IR) and a member of the company’s Enterprise Leadership Team. Ingersoll Rand, which is regularly recognized as one of the most admired companies in the world, is a leading global manufacturer of innovative industrial products, with a market cap of $20 billion, 51 manufacturing plants worldwide and more than 45,000 employees.
As part of IR’s Enterprise Leadership Team, Steve is enabling IR’s transformation into the digital economy, including the expansion of data analytics capabilities and customer experience innovations. He also is an internal business partner, delivering operational excellence value through technologies, from customer-facing and sales to manufacturing operations.
Steve leads the company’s global information technology (IT) organization and is responsible for the development and execution of Ingersoll Rand’s IT strategies, including enterprise technology infrastructure, information security and business IT solutions. With direct investment responsibility of $450 million and 1,500 resources worldwide, Steve reports directly to the CEO. He is a regular participant on the board’s Technology & Innovation Committee, and presents at each Audit Committee meeting on security of data and intellectual property, cyber threats and preparedness, and digital trends impacting the business. Working closely with the board and the CEO, Steve led the IT component of the $2.5 billion spinoff of Security Technologies.
Prior to joining Ingersoll Rand, Steve spent 19 years with the Goodrich Corporation (NYSE:GR), most recently as the company’s vice president and Chief Information Officer. With more than 30 years of experience, he has held multiple executive and financial leadership roles in the aerospace, and defense, manufacturing and service industries.
Steve currently chairs the Charlotte CIO Executive Summit and previously served as the chair of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce IT Summit. He is also a Charlotte CIO Advisory Board Member and NIBCO Board Member. He is a past director and Board Chair of Apparo, and a prior director of the Charlotte Mecklenburg County Council of the Boy Scouts of America and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Technology Advisory Board.
Steve holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin and is a member of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He was recognized by the Charlotte Business Journal as “CIO of the Year” in 2014.
