Apparo’s new IT Coaching Platform is launching soon! We'll be posting updates here, so check back!
IT Coaching is one-on-one (or two) technology support provided by skilled volunteers at no cost to nonprofits. Using our online portal, nonprofits post coaching requests and volunteers match themselves to coaching opportunities based on skill set and availability.
Who are IT Coaches? Do I need advanced tech skills?
IT Coaches come from Apparo's corporate partners and local volunteer and retirement communities. They bring a wide variety of backgrounds and have diverse employment experience, but all have familiarity with common software programs like Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Advanced technology skills are not required.
What are common coaching subjects?
Nonprofits most commonly request help on these programs:
- Office 365 Tools and Navigation
Why should I become an IT Coach?
IT Coaches apply their specific tech skills to enable nonprofits to better achieve their missions.
- Work within your schedule and skill set - 1 hour/month, at a mutually convenient time, addressing a topic in your area of expertise
Gain personal satisfaction - Experience your immediate positive impact on Charlotte while engaging with nonprofits on a personal level
Make positive change – Enhance a nonprofit's efficiency, increasing their ability to improve vulnerable lives in our community
Increase your impact – Serve more nonprofits as your schedule allows, at any time of the year
What is the time commitment?
It doesn’t take a lot of time to make a heroic impact. As an IT Coach, you commit one hour per month (up to four months) to support a nonprofit at their office. Some issues can be addressed in just one session, while others will need follow-up. As a coach, you determine the total amount of time you are able to commit and will have the opportunity to communicate this prior to beginning coaching.
How do I get started?
What IT Coaching Participants Are Saying ...
"I would like to say a huge "thank you" to Brendan Fitzgerald (Duke Energy ). First of all - he was extremely patient and professional. He also did an excellent job of explaining how things work! He taught me some quick tips on excel that make my monthly reporting much, much easier! I really felt like I could improve my monthly reporting skills after the excel training. Way to go Brendan! I appreciate your willingness to use your computer talents to help others! Thank you so much Brendan and Apparo!" -- Nonprofit Partner
“You’re working with an organization that is really serving a need in the community and they believe in that mission with their whole heart and you get to be a part of that. You get to help them reach out and fulfill that mission.” -- IT Coach
