IT Coaching

What is IT Coaching?

It’s simple. IT Coaching is one-on-one or group Microsoft training for nonprofits. Coaches are paired with a nonprofit partner who has expressed a need in your area of expertise. Coaching is provided in one or more of the following areas:

  • Excel
  • SharePoint
  • Word
  • Outlook
  • PowerPoint
  • Windows Navigation

Why should your company participate?  IT Coaches use their every day skills to enable nonprofit partners to better achieve their missions. With a low time commitment--Apparo recommends one hour per month--you can experience your immediate impact on the community while engaging with nonprofits on a personal level.

How does IT Coaching work?  IT Coaching runs in 4-month long semesters and participating is easy. You will:

  1. Sign up as a coach
  2. Choose a nonprofit coaching request
  3. Coach at nonprofit partner’s desk at mutually agreed upon time
  4. Log your hours at the end of the semester

What our corporate volunteers are saying

“I am an IT Coach because a half hour of my day profoundly impacts some people’s lives.”-- Jason Daniels, Duke Energy

“It was a great experience for me…[Coaching’s] something you can do outside of work to make connections, to meet people and really to pass on some of the skills that you use every day at work to nonprofits in the community.”

“ ...the employees who participate in [Tech Teams] feel really good about the results—you feel like you’re making a difference. And one person can make a big difference; a team can make a bigger difference.”

“A donation can help you buy hard-ware and software but it’s the volunteer who can really help the employees figure out how to use it and use it every day. “

“You’re working with an organization that is really serving a need in the community and they believe in that mission with their whole heart and you get to be a part of that. You get to help them reach out and fulfill that mission.”

"This is such a beneficial program! I am so grateful to be a part of it."

"Colleen Bosak (Duke Energy) is my IT coach she is so sweet and patient, I was nervous to sign up but was a great experience! Thanks!"

"Huge thank you to Leslie Martin (Bank of America) for her patience and flexibility! I learned so much from her, a great teacher! Thanks again!"

"I would like to say a huge "thank you" to Brendan Fitzgerald (Duke Energy ). First of all - he was extremely patient and professional. He also did an excellent job of explaining how things work!!! He taught me some quick tips on excel that make my monthly reporting much, much easier! I really felt like I could improve my monthly reporting skills after the excel training. Way to go Brendan!! I appreciate your willingness to use your computer talents to help others!! Thank you so much Brendan and Apparo!"
