Bill Pappas is the head of operations for Bank of America’s Consumer, Small Business & Wealth Management businesses and leads Global Business Services. In this role, Bill directs a global team comprised of more than 50,000 employees and contractors delivering integrated service and operations solutions to clients across Consumer & Small Business, Merrill Wealth Management, U.S. Trust and Retirement Solutions. His Global Business Services team provides technology capabilities to all Bank of America lines of business.
His Consumer responsibilities include providing integrated service and operations solutions to the company’s investment, private wealth management, retirement and trust accounts, as well as employee benefits plans. He also has responsibility for the oversight of the areas providing cash and transportation services and card issuance, the end-to-end delivery of Collection & Recovery, Mortgage & Vehicle Servicing, and Enterprise Fraud oversight inclusive of internal and external fraud for customers, businesses and institutions, globally.
Previously, Bill was the chief information officer for Bank of America’s Global Wholesale Banking and Global Markets operations responsible for end-to-end technology services, and operations support for Global Markets sales, trading and underwriting businesses, and certain shared services across securities, derivatives, foreign exchange, futures, options and commodities products for Corporate Treasury, Corporate Investment Portfolio and Global Wealth and Investment Management. Concurrently, he also led the regional technology and operations in Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East and Africa and Latin America, providing an integrated client experience. Combined, his organization operated in 28 countries.
Prior to joining Bank of America, Bill spent seven years at General Electric Capital Services in the U.S. and Europe, holding increasingly senior positions in finance, audit, mergers and acquisitions and operations.
Bill is a member of Bank of America’s Management Operating Committee. He represents Bank of America on the board of the Federal Reserve’s Payments Risk Committee, a member of Bank of America’s Global Diversity & Inclusion Council and a member of the Harvard Kennedy School’s Council for Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Bill was raised in Greece, is married and has four daughters. He has been chosen as one of Bank Systems & Technology’s Elite 8, recognized as a CIO who embraces change and innovation to achieve competitive distinction. He holds a B.A. cum laude in government and an MBA in international business from Bentley University.
